Two new master students joined our lab at the beginning of this year.
Serena Provveduto will work with pathogens isolated from the lungs of children suffering from cystic fibrosis to investigate the evolution of antibiotic resistance. Joel Frommenwiler will focus on antibiotic resistance or virulence factors in bacterial strains present in clinical samples from burn wounds. Welcome to the team.

We have recently welcomed three new PhD students in our lab.
Daniela Rovito will investigate social interactions between ESKAPE pathogens, using both in-vivo and in vitro models, and how they could be exploited to help treat infections. Simon Maréchal will work with bacterial communities isolated from the environment to explore the traits that determine community assembly and stability. Sukrit Suresh will employ experimental evolution to elucidate interaction between pathogens over evolutionary time and under different stressful conditions. Dr Richard Allen has join the lab last June 1st as a postdoctoral researcher. Richard will be working with our natural strain collection and potential antibiotic resistance patterns among these strains. Welcome, Richard!
We've recently welcomed Johanna Giger to the lab. Johanna will be conducting her MSc research with us, and will be focusing on the effects of siderophores produced by free-living bacteria on human pathogens. Best of luck, Johanna!
This August we welcomed a new member in our lab: Ingrid Mignot is our new Lab Manager and joins us after 6 years at ETH Zurich. Welcome Ingrid!
Over the last three months, we had the pleasure of hosting Jaime Gonzalez Gutierrez, a PhD Student in Prof. Jose Jimenez's lab (University of Surrey). With us, Jaime worked on P. aeruginosa's pyoverdine uptake in a host context.
On April 1st, we welcomed Désirée Schimtz to the lab. She is interested in microbial inter-species interactions in a host context. Here's to a successful project!
Vera Vollenweider has joined our lab this January to pursue her PhD. She will be working with our natural isolates collections, looking for novel siderophores and testing their feasibility as anti-microbial agents. Best of luck, Vera!
We'd like to welcome Lorenzo Alimonti to our Lab! Lorenzo is a Master's student from Italy (Roma Tre University) and has joined us to develop a part of his project, on the emergence of cheater phenotypes in different P. aeruginosa strains.
